Captain Noushad reportedly would not fly Pakistan International Airlines’ flight PK-711 from Allama Iqbal International Airport, in Lahore, until he could get his gourmet food.
A foodie pilot fed up with the on-board menu delayed a flight to New York for two-and-a-half hours so sandwiches could be delivered from a five-star hotel.
Captain Noushad reportedly refused to begin Pakistan International Airlines’ flight PK-711 from Allama Iqbal International Airport, in Lahore, on Sunday after seeing the state of the grub.
Recent cutbacks had seen the gourmet meals he was accustomed to axed and replaced with just peanuts, chips and cookies.
A Pakistani International Airline plane was delayed for hours when its pilot decided to have his food delivered from a fancy hotel.
The Nation reports that Noushad asked caterers at the airport for his own tailored foodstuffs to take on board.
But when they said he should have pre-ordered, he contacted a nearby hotel and asked workers to courier over a meal.
Due to take off at 6:45 a.m., passengers had to wait two-and-a-half hours until 9:15 a.m. — when his meal finally arrived.
The delayed flight, via Manchester in England, likely caused many passengers to miss connecting flights, Metro added.
